Cars and other forms of transport

Fire engine, Drummoyne, Feb 1979
If my memory serves me well, the red streak was a fire engine. But my memory does not serve me well.

View through the front gate of 272 Victoria Parade, Drummoyne. I think it's now been replaced by either a brick wall (there was a much quieter back entrance) or the house has been knocked down and a block of flats built in its place.

Cars, Drummoyne, Feb 1979
I cannot recall the exact details of this photo, in particular the ghostly image of a woman or man clad in white on the other side of the street. It's odd that the headlights coming towards me seem extremely bright for a single car or truck yet obviously no vehicle passed beyond the ghostly image.

I can still recall the worried look on the driver's face as the train passed by. My tripod was rather precariously mounted straddling the fence, one leg resting on a service pipe. I guess this may be a popular suicide spot. Funny what you remember.

One of the oddest things about the history of this shot is that I wrote down all the details (including the time) but not the date. It was a rainy work day - I did not attend work that day.
This is one of my most commented on images. I guess it stirs up something in many people (even if it's just one of those "Yes, but what does it mean?" type comments).
This is a scan of the original printed version. Below are variations.

This is a scan I made from the negative. I have done little to it except lighten the shadows. There is little of no red in the scan of the negative so I can only assume the printer (not me) was a little liberal with their interpretation (see above)!?

I had always thought that this shot and the next couple, all taken on the same night I think, were chronologically earlier than the previous Drummoyne shots. Not the case it seems. This shot has always been a favourite of mine.
